Thanksgiving DOG

On November 15, 2009, several of the Southern California Chapter members got together for a Dutch Oven Gathering.  It was held at El Dorado Regional Park in Long Beach, California.  We had a great time and the food was delicious.  It was a good time to visit and try new recipes.
The yellow tags in the photos are recipe cards.  They give the recipe and tell you who made what.  It is a great way to compare notes and learn new things.

Thanksgiving 2009

I prepared Thanksgiving lunch for my workers at my ironworks shop.  I started cooking the turkey around 10am.  Turkey cooks much faster in the Dutch oven.  I stuffed the bird with rice and garlic.  It was moist and delicious.  The great thing about Dutch oven cooking is that you can cook almost anything.  I cooked in the yard behind my shop.  We had a delicious lunch.
My guys like tortillas.  I found that putting a Dutch oven lid on top of the coals makes a great tortilla warmer.  Everybody is happy.
